EXHEAT supplies Electric Reboiler Heaters to Aasta Hansteen

Watton, UK - EXHEAT, one of the world leaders in the design and manufacture of electric process heaters and associated thyristor control systems for Hazardous Areas, is pleased that it has been awarded the contract to supply three Ex e electric reboiler heaters to the Aasta Hansteen gas field.

The gas field is located on Blocks 6706/12, 6707/10, in 4,265 feet (1,300 meters) of water, about 186 miles west of Sandnessjoen in northern Norway. The operator is Statoil, holding a 75% interest; OMV holds 15%; and ConocoPhillips holds the remaining 10% interest. Aasta Hansteen is estimated to hold around 1.66 Tcf (47 Bcm) of gas and 5.6 MMbbl of condensate, of which recoverable reserves are 1.15 Tcf of gas and 3.3 MMbbl of condensate. This field is expected to produce around 20-25 mmcm/d. Startup year is expected to be 2017.
